About Hotel Le Val Chaviere

Run by the charming Garcin family, the Val Chavière is one of our most popular hotels in Val Thorens, offering a very warm welcome and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in a superb ski-in/out location. The hotel is deservedly popular with our guests and is excellent value. In particular, the quality and quantity of the food served is often singled out for praise and the reason that many return to this hotel.

The hotel bar is an ideal spot to catch up with your friends and family, enjoy a cocktail or a glass of wine then head to the games room where you can find a pool table, cards and various board games.

With a fantastic location in Val Thorens, the Val Chavière is a short walk to the vibrant resort centre where you can find a range of shops, bars and restaurants. Benefitting from having a ski in, ski out access and being next to the Pionniers chairlift, you can easily get onto the mountain each day - it is a great base for exploring the Three Valleys. Fantastic views can be enjoyed from the hotel, whether you are enjoying the winter sun on your balcony or having breakfast you can admire the snow capped mountains - to the south-west you can see the ''la pointe de la Masse'' and ''les aiguilles de Peclet to the south east. 

  • Ski in/ski out location with the ski lifts and ski school meeting place just opposite.
  • The hotel is next to the Pionniers chiarlift.
  • It has an excellent central location in Val Thorens within a couple of minutes' walk of bars and shops.
  • Our partner ski hire shop is just a minute's walk (100m).

You will be spoilt for choice during meal times, each morning a hearty breakfast buffet is available and when you return from a day on the slopes a five course meal awaits you. Evening meals have a set menu created using fresh and seasonal produce, and you can look forward to a weekly Savoyard evening with fondue, singing and music. 

  • A buffet breakfast is available each morning between 8-10am with a range of sweet and savoury options,
  • Each evening you'll enjoy a set five course set evening meal is served each night including soup, starter, set main course, choice of cheeses and a dessert buffet.
  • Each week there is a regional fondue and for those who do not like cheese, the fondue can be Bourguignonne style (meat dipped in oil). One choice of main, starters and dessert not included on the regional evening. 
  • Christmas and New Year gala dinners are included.

Alternative meals for special dietary requirements are not available, meat is replaced by eggs or fish for pescatarians. 

Special diets are available on a request basis. Catering for dietary allergies will need to be checked before booking. Allergies and intolerances not listed above cannot be catered for. All allergies and intolerances, even if listed above, are subject to confirmation by the accommodation. If one member of your party has multiple dietary requirements, these are subject to confirmation by the accommodation.

Le Val Chavieres 49 rooms overlook the surrounding mountains, south-west facing rooms look towards the 'pointe de la Masse' and the south-east facing rooms look over the 'les aiguilles de Peclet'.

Twin bedrooms sleep two people and are around 17m², with a balcony with mountain views. These rooms are also available for sole occupancy for a supplement.

Twin plus bedrooms around 18m² sleeping two adults and a child, with a balcony with a mountain view.  

Family bedrooms sleep two adults and two children and are around 20-25m². Family rooms have a double bed or twin beds, plus bunk beds suitable for children. This room type is available on request so please call to book.

The Hotel Le Val Chaviere is not recommended for those with reduced mobility. There is not any adapted rooms available, and the lift cannot fit a wheelchair.

Discover Val Thorens

At an altitude of 2,300m, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe and as part of the huge Three Valleys area, it is undoubtedly one of the very best. The resort has been designed to offer doorstep skiing from practically wherever you stay and has a village feel around a compact centre - where car access is restricted. The height of the resort means skiing in Val Thorens consists of long hours of sunshine, an unrivalled snow record and great skiing for all grades.

Things to do in Val Thorens

Tobogganing

The longest toboggan run in France can be found at the Cosmojet Toboggan run, accessible via the Péclet funitel. It takes about 45 minutes to run the roughly 6 kilometres to the bottom.

As well as the swimming pool and wellness facilities, the complex has a range of sports courts and a fitness area with body building facilities. There is also a soft play area for the children which includes giant trampolines, slides, rope bridges and a ball pit. Payable locally.

If you would prefer to experience the mountain by foot, there are plenty of paths to follow. The sentier de la Marine is a relatively easy walk of around 5km, starting at Chalet du Cosmojet you will be met with fantastic views across the snowy landscape.

Have you ever wanted to stay on the mountain after last lifts? Every Friday you can enjoy the Tête Ronde and Christine runs in Péclet sector until 6.30pm. It is free of charge for guests with a valid Val Thorens/ Orelle ski pass.

Take to new heights and have a go at the La Bee zip line at the top of the Moutiere chairlift. This adrenaline filled zip line is suitable for children over the age of 14. Height restrictions apply. Pay locally.

The Tyrolienne du Bouchet is the highest zipline in Europe giving you the chance to whizz through the incredible mountain scenery. Located at the top of the Bouchet chairlift. Pay locally.

Snake Gliss (sledge train to you and me) is where sledges are tied together, led by a professional instructor and whizzing down the 45 minute descent from the top of Funitel de Péclet. 

For a bit of evening entertainment head to the resorts bowling centre, where there are eight lanes for bowling, a pool table and a variety of games including a football table. 

Ride your own snowmobile, or with a passenger and follow your guide on a tour around the unspoilt winter landscapes around Val Thorens. Book and pay locally.
