About Hotel Le Sherpa

Enjoying a ski in, ski out location in Val Thorens, this delightful hotel enjoys spectacular views of the resort and surrounding peaks and is just a short walk to the shops, bars and restaurants. The Chambérot family ensure superb standards of comfort, service and fine cuisine in a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. As one of the only family-run hotels in resort, they pride themselves on a warm welcome and traditional Alpine charm.

After a day of skiing or snowboarding, you’ll have everything you need to relax at the Hotel Le Sherpa. Reserved for residents only, you can soothe any aches and pains in the jacuzzi or relax in the steam room. There is a panoramic cosmic sauna on the terrace, as well as the traditional sauna inside.

The hotel has a really good reputation when it comes to food, the menu often features regional produce and chef's specialities. 

  • Each morning a continental buffet breakfast with additional hot options is served between 7.45-9.30am (subject to change).
  • When you have returned from a day on the slopes, you can enjoy a five course evening meals with choice of menu including soup, starter, main (including a daily vegetarian option), cheese and dessert. Twice a week there is a local speciality evening which can include raclette or fondue. Dinner is served from 7:00 to 8.30pm.

The Hotel Le Sherpa offers unique menus that changes daily, with a limited selection of starters and main courses (a daily vegetarian option is available). No other dietary requirements can be catered to, and additional changes cannot be made to the half board menu.

Small double economy rooms sleep two people and are around 15m² with a double bed.

Traditional rooms sleep two to three people and are around 20m² with twin beds or a double bed, plus an additional single bed and a balcony with views of the mountains. If this room is booked for 3 people, then the room will be made up with a double bed and the additional single bed.

Panorama rooms sleep two to three people and are around 20m² with twin beds or a double bed, plus an additional single bed and a balcony with panoramic mountain views. If this room is booked for 3 people, then the room will be made up with a double bed and the additional single bed.

Junior suites sleep two to four people and are around 30m², with a twin or double bedroom and an additional sofa bed on mezzanine level, and a balcony with mountain views.

Discover Val Thorens

At an altitude of 2,300m, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe and as part of the huge Three Valleys area, it is undoubtedly one of the very best. The resort has been designed to offer doorstep skiing from practically wherever you stay and has a village feel around a compact centre - where car access is restricted. The height of the resort means skiing in Val Thorens consists of long hours of sunshine, an unrivalled snow record and great skiing for all grades.

Things to do in Val Thorens

Tobogganing

The longest toboggan run in France can be found at the Cosmojet Toboggan run, accessible via the Péclet funitel. It takes about 45 minutes to run the roughly 6 kilometres to the bottom.

As well as the swimming pool and wellness facilities, the complex has a range of sports courts and a fitness area with body building facilities. There is also a soft play area for the children which includes giant trampolines, slides, rope bridges and a ball pit. Payable locally.

If you would prefer to experience the mountain by foot, there are plenty of paths to follow. The sentier de la Marine is a relatively easy walk of around 5km, starting at Chalet du Cosmojet you will be met with fantastic views across the snowy landscape.

Have you ever wanted to stay on the mountain after last lifts? Every Friday you can enjoy the Tête Ronde and Christine runs in Péclet sector until 6.30pm. It is free of charge for guests with a valid Val Thorens/ Orelle ski pass.

Take to new heights and have a go at the La Bee zip line at the top of the Moutiere chairlift. This adrenaline filled zip line is suitable for children over the age of 14. Height restrictions apply. Pay locally.

The Tyrolienne du Bouchet is the highest zipline in Europe giving you the chance to whizz through the incredible mountain scenery. Located at the top of the Bouchet chairlift. Pay locally.

Snake Gliss (sledge train to you and me) is where sledges are tied together, led by a professional instructor and whizzing down the 45 minute descent from the top of Funitel de Péclet. 

For a bit of evening entertainment head to the resorts bowling centre, where there are eight lanes for bowling, a pool table and a variety of games including a football table. 

Ride your own snowmobile, or with a passenger and follow your guide on a tour around the unspoilt winter landscapes around Val Thorens. Book and pay locally.
