About Hotel Altapura

The Altapura combines modern luxury with the comfort of an alpine hotel. A warm, seventies style is seen throughout, combining light coloured wood, monochromatic brown tones - surrounded by large windows with views of the snow-covered Alps.

The hotel prides itself on its high level of cuisine, enjoy dinner at the 2003 restaurant where you have a choice of a variety of hot dishes influenced by the region and further afield.  If you want to try some of the freshest fondue you can reserve a table at the La Laiterie where the hotels Chef prepares local cheese dishes for you to enjoy. Alternatively taste the flavours of Italy at Casa Alta the hotels own a 'la carte restaurant serving gourmet dishes, guests will receive a credit of €62 towards a meal here.

This five-star hotel has ski in, ski out access, located right on the ski slopes with direct access to the Plein Sud chairlift. The Altapura lives up to its name as the ‘highest ski palace’, redefining luxury and style in Val Thorens. There is a ski hire shop on site but we work with one that is 10 minutes' walk away (or use the hotels shuttle bus) and with whom we are able to give the ski hire offers.

The Hotel Altapura is on a half board basis.

Each day a continental buffet breakfast with additional hot options is served. Dinner is served in the chic 'Restaurant Casa Alta.' The menu often features seasonal dishes with Italian flavours.

There is also the option to upgrade to enjoy Savoyard specialties in 'La Laiterie' and the new Asian Fusion restaurant for an additional charge, pay locally.

Earlier meal times for children are available on request and Christmas & New Year gala dinners are also included.

Club twin rooms are 28m² and sleep two to three people with a double bed and an additional single sofa bed in the lounge area for children up to 17 years old. These rooms have south facing views, typically over the piste however this is not guaranteed.

Deluxe suites are 32m² and sleep up to two adults and one child with double or twin beds and an additional single sofa bed in the lounge area for children under 17 years. These rooms have south facing views, typically over the piste however this is not guaranteed. Deluxe Suites can also sleep two adults and two children on request, with a double sofa bed in the lounge area suitable for two children under 12 years. 

Duplex suites are 41m² and sleep two adults and two children. On the first level there is a spacious living room which can sleep two children. On the second level there is an open mezzanine with a sloping bedroom and an open bathroom with a bath.

Discover Val Thorens

At an altitude of 2,300m, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe and as part of the huge Three Valleys area, it is undoubtedly one of the very best. The resort has been designed to offer doorstep skiing from practically wherever you stay and has a village feel around a compact centre - where car access is restricted. Things to do in Val Thorens

Tobogganing

The longest toboggan run in France can be found at the Cosmojet Toboggan run, accessible via the Péclet funitel. It takes about 45 minutes to run the roughly 6 kilometres to the bottom.

As well as the swimming pool and wellness facilities, the complex has a range of sports courts and a fitness area with body building facilities. There is also a soft play area for the children which includes giant trampolines, slides, rope bridges and a ball pit. Payable locally.

If you would prefer to experience the mountain by foot, there are plenty of paths to follow. The sentier de la Marine is a relatively easy walk of around 5km, starting at Chalet du Cosmojet you will be met with fantastic views across the snowy landscape.

Have you ever wanted to stay on the mountain after last lifts? Every Friday you can enjoy the Tête Ronde and Christine runs in Péclet sector until 6.30pm. It is free of charge for guests with a valid Val Thorens/ Orelle ski pass.

Take to new heights and have a go at the La Bee zip line at the top of the Moutiere chairlift. This adrenaline filled zip line is suitable for children over the age of 14. Height restrictions apply. Pay locally.

The Tyrolienne du Bouchet is the highest zipline in Europe giving you the chance to whizz through the incredible mountain scenery. Located at the top of the Bouchet chairlift. Pay locally.

Snake Gliss (sledge train to you and me) is where sledges are tied together, led by a professional instructor and whizzing down the 45 minute descent from the top of Funitel de Péclet. 

For a bit of evening entertainment head to the resorts bowling centre, where there are eight lanes for bowling, a pool table and a variety of games including a football table. 

Ride your own snowmobile, or with a passenger and follow your guide on a tour around the unspoilt winter landscapes around Val Thorens. Book and pay locally.
