Beginners skiing and snowboarding in Cortina

Cortina is a great resort to visit for those of you who are learning to ski or snowboard. A large selection of the slopes are easy and the Socrepes area of the mountain has wonderful nursery slopes and is one of the best beginner's areas in the Dolomites with some great progression slopes.

Intermediates skiing and snowboarding in Cortina

Intermediates will find a good selection of blue and red runs available, with the majority of them threading through the amazing alpine scenery. The runs at Tofana are short but great for cruising. You will want to ski a few runs a couple of times as this area normally has the best snow.

Advanced skiing and snowboarding in Cortina

Advanced skiers will enjoy the Lagazuoi Cinque Torri area where you will find a large selection of red runs and some challenging blacks with great north-facing snow. Another great area to head for is the 'hidden valley' red run from the Passo Falzarego cable-car, and of course you have to try the famous Sella Ronda.

Off piste and snow parks in Cortina

Cortina offers some fantastic off piste skiing with a wide variety of slopes and itineraries to choose from. In Faloria, the Val Orita is a lovely wide valley with 1,200m of vertical, while Sci 18 is one of the region's most famous itineraries.

If you're hoping to practice some tricks and visit a snow park you're in luck - there is a terrain park at Faloria with kickers, rails and a half-pipe open to both skiers and boarders.

Cross-country skiing in Cortina

Enjoy 78km of trails throughout the area. One of the tracks is 30km long and follows an old railway from Fiames to Cortina.

Discover Cortina D’Ampezzo

There’s only one! The Olympic resort of Cortina D’Ampezzo is one of the most filmed, photographed, skied and visited resorts in the Italian Alps.

Located east of the Sellaronda circuit, it’s not called the 'Queen of the Dolomites' for nothing. It has 140 kilometres of skiable terrain that stretches up to a incredible 2,939 metres. It’s renowned for the excellent selection of skiing as well as superb accommodation, bars, restaurants and shopping.

The main skiing areas are the Cortina Cube (Socrepes, Faloria and Mietres), Tofana, and Lagazuoi - 5 Torri, with plenty of challenging runs as well as some of the most amazing views. The areas are either linked by the impressive network of lifts or local ski buses and in Winter 2021 saw a number of new and improved lifts cutting down queues and CO2 emissions. The Tofana area has a women's downhill World Cup run, which Cortina hosts each January and, in February 2021, held the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, inviting some of the world's best skiers for an unmissable event.

There are communal spas available at a local charge. One of our favourites is the spa and wellness centre located in Faloria. This hotel features 2 spa areas. The upper level welcomes you to a relaxation session with treatments rooms, saunas, an ice fountain and fitness centre. The lower level is dedicated to the semi-Olympic swimming pool, the caldarium and the vitality indoor and outdoor pool.

The most popular shopping area in Cortina is the Corso Italia pedestrian way. Here you'll find a variety of places to visit including designer boutiques selling high-end clothes and shoes, skiing and snowboarding shops for any missing items you may have forgotten to pack and department stores selling some of the local food and wine.
