Beginner skiing and snowboarding in Voss
Voss is a great place for complete beginners! Make your way up the Voss Gondola and enjoy the wide and gentle green runs back down to the Bavallen area down from Hangurstoppen. Once you're feeling more confident, there's a good selection of cruisy blue slopes to choose from.
There are three areas dedicated to children. These include Grebbesbakken, Badnakrokje and Trollbakken.
Intermediate skiing and snowboarding in Voss
Intermediate skiers can make the most of the 40km of slopes in the area. There is a range of easier green and blue slopes at the top of the Voss Gondola so you can warm your legs up before venturing onto the more challenging red and black slopes. There are a range of easy powder trails too, so you can test the waters and learn the basics of off-piste skiing.
Advanced skiing and snowboarding in Voss
Voss is known for its great snow conditions, so you can expect plenty of powder throughout the winter season. The off-piste is fantastic, with areas just off the side of the slopes and larger backcountry areas for you to explore. We recommend hiring a guide to show you the best spots. The resort consists of T-bars, drag lifts and a handful of chairlifts - Check out the linked Voss piste map for individual slopes.
Cross-country skiing in Voss
Cross-country skiing is extremely popular in Norway, and Voss offers over 18 kilometres of marked trails. The tracks are available for all abilities and venture round the picturesque village and lake.

Voss is one of the largest ski resorts in Western Norway and is located just 100 kilometres from Bergen. Voss is loved for its lively local culture, cosy hotels and delicious Norwegian food. The breath-taking mountain views and nearby fjords make it a fantastic destination for outdoor enthusiasts all year round.
Voss is known to have Norway's best skiing terrain with 40 kilometres of groomed alpine trails and 24 varied descents, including an international giant slalom course and a SuperG course. The ski area offers a fantastic range of terrain for both beginners and advanced skiers and boarders. Intermediates however have the best span available to them, with lots of slopes to master and improve their skills. There is also a range of manageable powder slopes that are perfect for learning basic off-piste skiing.
Boarders aren't forgotten about here, with a big jump, half pipe and boardercross easily accessible in the resorts snow park. The powder fields here are also excellent for freeriding. Due to the shorter daylight hours, night skiing is easily available in Voss. Evening skiing takes place three nights a week, and there are more than 10 kilometres of floodlit trails for all levels.
Whilst in Voss, you’ll have the opportunity to experience some fun winter activities and visit some of Norway's most scenic spots. We offer a pre-bookable day trip including a cruise down the Nærøyfjord as well as a ride on one of Norway's iconic trains - the Flåm Railway. For more information on this fantastic experience, check out our 'Things to do in Voss' section below.
Voss is famous across Norway for its traditional dishes, like smalahove (smoked sheep's head) and vossakorv (smoked sausage). In the past, farmers in Voss would smoke their meats to make them last longer, and this preservation method has stuck around and remains a key part of the local food culture. Today, smoked meat still takes centre stage in many of Voss’s meals, keeping the town’s rich culinary traditions alive and well.
You'll find plenty of authentic Norwegian cuisine at many of the resort's restaurants/cafés. The Station Café at the Park Hotel and the Ringheim Café are local favourites, known for their delicious dishes. For a truly special experience, the restaurant at the charming Fleischers Hotel is often considered the best in town, offering a cosy atmosphere and top-notch traditional fare.
Grill & Steakhouse and Malin Sush are also some popular favourites.
Whilst in Voss, there are opportunities to go out for a drink or two. One of the most popular venues is the Top Spot at Fleischers Hotel. A popular bar with the locals is Scrot, serving local beers, gins and cocktails.

For those of you who enjoy a good pint of beer, Voss is the resort for you. Voss is known around the world for it's beer brewing traditions, using a unique yeast to achieve that delicious taste. You'll have the opportunity to book and join a tasting experience in resort in one of the many breweries, or visit the Eldhuset Dale to see the traditional brewing methods in action.

Outside of the town centre, the Amfi Voss shopping centre has a great range of homeware stores, clothing shops and a supermarket, as well as a handful of restaurants.
For a moment of peace, the Voss Active outdoor spa is a wonderful place to unwind. There are three Jacuzzis and a wood-fired sauna, both overlooking the lake and nearby mountains. It is a lovely place to rejuvenate after a day of arctic adventures.
If you are staying at the Fleischers Hotel, there is a lovely wellness area with an indoor pool and jacuzzi available for hotel residents.
