Discover Westendorf
Known for being a quiet and attractive resort, Westendorf actually enjoys access to two vast ski areas – SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental area and Kitzbühel. Situated on an open plateau in the wide Brixen valley, this small pretty Tyrolean village is the perfect family friendly resort.
With the nursery slopes directly beside the village centre and an excellent children’s programme provided by the ski school, Westendorf is perfect for those just finding their ski legs.
On the tree-lined runs above the village, the resort also has some unexpectedly challenging slopes to get your teeth into. A gondola links Westendorf with Brixen and the rest of the slopes of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental area (a total of nine resorts) with a huge variety of skiing for both intermediate and advanced skiers.
Access to the Kitzbühel ski area, with a further 234km of pistes, is via the Ki-West gondola (Super Ski Card required for this).
Westendorf serves up a delightful mix of village and mountainside restaurants. On‑piste gems include Sonnalm, famed for its hearty Tiroler Gröstl and cosy fireside seating, and Brechhornhaus, a charming hideaway offering top‑notch Kaiserschmarrn with stunning valley views.
At the summit, the Gipfelrestaurant Hohe Salve rotates gently, treating guests to 360° panoramas alongside traditional Tyrolean fare.
Back in the village, Glennie’s is a modern favourite – reviewers praise its friendly staff and delicious burgers and ravioli.
Westendorf has a friendly après ski vibe that’s unpretentious and lively. On the slopes, venues like Gerry’s Inn and Bruchstall draw crowds for mulled wine, live DJs and classic Austrian sing‑alongs as the lifts close.
In the village centre, bars such as Karat, Kibo and the Village Pub offer laid‑back evening drinks, including cocktails and pints, perfect for relaxing fireside or catching televised sport.
While not wild like St. Anton or Ischgl, Westendorf’s après scene is cheerful, family‑friendly and brimming with Tyrolean charm.
