The vast SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental Area is an intermediate skier's paradise, connecting 8 villages in total, and enjoys an enviable snow record, backed by an extensive, high-tech system of snow cannons for added security and confidence. With its seemingly endless range of wide open blue and red runs, it is possible for even inexperienced skiers to enjoy a ski safari from one village to another, and if you only wish to ski one way, there are regular buses connecting Ellmau, Scheffau, and Söll.
Ellmau is a peaceful spot with amazing views of the Wilder Kaiser mountains—great for families and couples. Söll has a cosy village feel with plenty of bars, restaurants, and a fun après-ski scene. Over in Westendorf, you’ll find easy access to both the SkiWelt and Kitzbühel ski areas, making it a hit for keen skiers and beginners alike.
One of the most popular safaris is the 'Hohe Salve tour' - a cicular route around the highest peak of the area (1,829m), with fantastic 360-degree views of the Wilder Kaiser mountains, the Ziller Valley mountains, the Hohe Tauern range and Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner (3,798m). There are 77 mountain restaurants across the area, too, so there are plenty of excuses for a pit-stop along the way, whether for lunch or simply to enjoy a glühwein.

Ellmau is popular with families and couples looking for great skiing plus traditional Austrian character. The beginner slopes and ski school meeting place are conveniently central.
Westendorf is located on the other side of the mountains and works well for families and beginners, with its nursery slopes conveniently close to the village centre.

Ellmau is an attractive, quiet resort with the best views of the iconic Wilder Kaiser mountains. The Hartkaiser cable railway effortlessly takes more experienced skiers up into the huge SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental Area.
Westendorf is on the other side of the mountains and ideally placed for mileage-hungry skiers to use the Super Ski lift pass to access both the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental Area and Kitzbühel ski areas.
