About Hotel Böglerhof

If you're looking for something really special, the five-star Hotel Böglerhof is the perfect choice. It’s a traditional hotel that dates back to the 15th Century and is full of character with many original features. Located in the centre of Alpbach, you'll have everything within easy reach and you can be out enjoying the mountains in no time.

This is a place you’ll want to return to, with peaceful gardens full of flowers, wildlife feeders, and comfy loungers perfect for relaxing with a book or cloud-watching. The family spa offers something for everyone, from heated indoor and outdoor pools and clothes-on saunas to a gym and a garden with children’s games. Adults can unwind in the 'pure nature.spa', centred around the Bögler’s lake, with a freshwater swimming pond, heated pool, nude sauna area, and a panoramic relaxation room. You can also join a free weekly programme of activities, including guided walks, wine tastings, and yoga.

The 'pure nature.spa' at the Böglerhof is the perfect retreat for relaxation with a view. The whole area is adults-only (open to age 15+) and facilities include: 

  • Bögler's lake freshwater swimming pond and a heated outdoor pool with mountain view Infrared sauna, event sauna, bio sauna and steam room (nude areas)
  • Regular sauna infusions in the event sauna (dates and times advised in the hotel's activity program)

The family spa is great for relaxing with the little ones. This area is open to all ages and has clothes-on sauna areas rather than nude. Facilities in the family spa include:

The Böglerhof is great for food lovers, offering guests award-winning cuisine. They source lots of their produce locally and know the majority of their suppliers personally.

Start the day with the delicious breakfast buffet - an extensive selection of hot and cold items.

For an afternoon pick-me-up, there's a free cake and snack buffet with tea, coffee and soft drinks. There's also the Böglersbar with its cosy sofas and an excellent menu of cocktails, schnapps, champagne, and non-alcoholic beverages. It's the perfect spot to settle in with a good book, or you can head out to the terrace and Sunbar to enjoy the garden views.

The evening half board is a delicious five-course meal with four choices of dish including local Austrian specialities, vegetarian and international options.

The Wine Cellar at the Böglerhof is 500 years old and contains over 600 different wines, which experienced sommelier Johannes Duftner will happily share with you during the free weekly wine tasting.

Something to celebrate? Book in at gourmet Restaurant Fuggerstube - the hotel's award-winning fine dining restaurant - for a fine dining menu. Open from Thursday to Saturday (payable locally).

Schatzberg double rooms are around 28m² and have an Austrian Twin bed and an en-suite with bath. These rooms sleep two to three people (extra bed is a single sofa bed) and some rooms have garden views.

Sonnjoch rooms are around 40m² and are in the new wing of the hotel. They have an Austrian Twin bed and sleep up to three people (extra bed is a double sofa bed). They have south-facing views, and an en-suite with bath and shower. A small number of Sonnjoch rooms that interconnect may be available on request - please call to book as we must check with the hotel prior to booking.

Wiedersberg single rooms are around 20-22m² and have an en-suite with shower. These rooms have no single supplement.

Things to do in Alpbach

Reintalersee lake

Cool down from the summer sun in one of the many swimming areas in Alpbachtal. Lake Reintal is the warmest and largest in the area and is also the starting point for several beautiful walks. Children will love the bathing lake at Reith, which has a spacious lawn and play area. Discover the hidden gem of Lake Berglstein, in the middle of the forest – its idyllic location is perfect for enjoying nature, peace and quiet, and the picturesque wooden hut on the shore makes the perfect photo. There’s also outdoor pools in Münster and Brixlegg.

Tiefenbachklamm Gorge, Alpbach

Get a unique experience in nature in one of the impressive gorges of the Teifenbach, Kaiser or Kundl. Turquoise green waters cascade over unusual rock formations in the Tiefenbach Gorge, while the Kaiser Gorge is popular with families, with picnic areas and imposing bridges and tunnels. For an adrenaline kick, you can also get involved in water sports in the gorges too, from white water swimming and tube riding, to rafting or kayaking.

Rattenberg

The medieval town of glass, Rattenberg sits on the bank of the River Inn and only has around 500 inhabitants – despite its small size, it’s packed with culture and is famous for glass-blowing. Pop into the Kisslinger shop to see demos of the craft of glass-blowing and marvel at some of the works of art that have been created there. Wander the river path or the colourful cobbled street, tuck into an apple strudel from Hacker,  enjoy the view from the Schlossberg or see historical art treasures in the Augustinian museum.

Tiroler Bauernhöfe Museum

Take a step back in time at the Tyrolean Farmhouse Museum, where historic buildings have been painstakingly reconstructed to give a glimpse into the Tyrol’s farming past. Each building is unique and beautiful, and has been painstakingly rebuilt exactly as it was in its original location.

Cycling in Alpbach

Bike lovers will feel at home in the Alpbachtal, which has trails to suit all two-wheel enthusiasts from gravel trails, mountain bike trails and picturesque mountain roads. Lauser Sauser summer alpine coaster

At the top of the Wiedersbergerhorn gondola in Alpbach, Lauserland is a mountain-top adventure world with enough play areas to keep the children entertained for hours – from rope courses and climbing frames to rolling ball tracks and water games, even a jumping pillow. For adults, there’s shaded rest areas and hammocks to enjoy the view. Feeling brave? Whizz down the mountain on the Lauser-Sauser summer toboggan – a top attraction for all ages.

Juppi Zauberwald

Make mud pies in the forest kitchen, balance on the wobbly bridge and complete challenges like swing bowling. Juppi’s enchanted forest is hidden away at the top of the Reither Kogel, and is full of surprises – grab a treasure map and hunt out the best play areas and viewing spots, and make sure your family hike is full of fun – the kids can collect stamps along the way and get a small present from the bottom station of the lift.
