About Hotel Des Dromonts

The Hotel Des Dromonts is a unique hotel set in the historic district of Avoriaz - You will be taken back to the 1960s with the Morzine slate flooring, iconic designer furniture and purple, orange and red shades for a vintage-chic atmosphere. The hotel benefits from having easy access to the fantastic Portes du Soleil Ski Area,  as well as the resort centre with a variety of shops, bars and restaurants. 

The style of the Spa at the Hôtel des Dromonts pays tribute to the classics of Avoriaz , materials such as wooden tiles and slate combined with psychedelic decoration make you feel at peace once you enter the wellness area. Sooth your achy ski legs in the outdoor Nordic bath, or unwind in the sauna and hammam. There is also a relaxation area with suspended armchairs, which is perfect for a moment of peace.

After a great day on the slopes of the Portes du Soleil, warm up in Le Festival bar with a hot chocolate, a local aperitif or a signature cocktail. With wool and leather armchairs and posters of the Avoriaz Fantastic Festival, it brings together the past and the present, it is a lovely area to enjoy after a day on the slopes or to have a cosy night in.

Surrounded by a landscape of magnificent snow-covered peaks and being ideally situated in the centre of Avoriaz, you benefit from having ski in/ ski out access to the expansive Portes du Soleil ski area, and with 600 kilometres of runs to explore, you won't have to ski the same run twice.

  • Avoriaz is traffic free and all transfers from the airport or the railway station arrive at the Welcome Centre. From here, our local team organise the snowcats that transfer guests and luggage to their accommodation.

There are two superb restaurants to choose from, Les Enfants Terribles which is included with half board serving delicious evening meals inspired by the French cuisine, or receive credit towards informal dining in Le Festival restaurant which serves local specialities such as fondue or grilled meats, as well as burgers and other snack food.

  • Each day enjoy a continental breakfast buffet with a choice of breads, pastries, fresh fruit, as well as meats and cheeses from the region,  additional hot options are also available.
  • Dinner is served in the Les Enfants Terribles bistro restaurant; each evening you can enjoy a three course evening meal with a choice of menu.
  • If you would prefer a more laid back dining option, you can also dine in Le Festival which serves a range of local specialities and burgers - guests are provided with a €55 credit which covers three courses.

New Year Gala dinner is included at the Les Enfants Terrible restaurant.

The Hotel Des Dromonts can only cater for vegetarian diets.  Special diets are available on a request basis. Catering for dietary allergies will need to be checked before booking. Allergies and intolerances not listed above cannot be catered for. All allergies and intolerances, even if listed above, are subject to confirmation by the accommodation. If one member of your party has multiple dietary requirements, these are subject to confirmation by the accommodation.

Board basis available: Half Board

The hotel had been designed by Jacques Labro who imagined it as a playground for big kids. The warm and cosy hotel has bright colours a retro designed furniture to take you straight back to the 60s,  the décor of the rooms follows the theme too, with cedar wood work, plush furnishings and vibrant walls.

Classic Bedrooms are around 18m² and sleep two people. These rooms are also available for sole occupancy, please call our Reservations team to book.

Club Bedrooms are slightly larger than Classic bedrooms at around 22m² and sleep two people. These rooms can also accommodate a cot.

Superior Bedrooms are around 25m² and sleep two people, there is also a bath in the bedroom.

Suites are around 36m² and sleep two adults and two children. The suites have a master bedroom separated from the lounge by a sliding door, and pull-out sofa bed which can accommodate two children under 12 years old in the lounge area. These rooms have a bathroom with a shower and bathtub, with a separate toilet.

Discover Avoriaz

The purpose built, snow sure resort of Avoriaz is the highest in the Portes du Soleil. appealing to skiers and boarders of all abilities with slopes such as the best blue run in the area, Abricotine, and Coupe du Monde being the best black run with great views.

Once you are on the mountain, the Stash snow park provides fun for the whole family, found between the trees in a reforestation zone. It's made up of different ability level snow parks built with dead untreated wood which has been collected locally, so it blends into the landscape. There's a wide choice of shops, restaurants and bars dotted around the resort, many of which serve local ingredients and French-origin products and most buildings are designed to conserve heat, and with the use of solar panels generate energy too.

Things to do in Avoriaz

Aquariaz swimming pool feels like a tropical haven, a thousand miles away from the Bahamas. The leisure centre has several different swimming areas including an indoor river, a sidewinder and themed children's area. It is the perfect place to spend an afternoon when it is just to snowy to go skiing.

Discover the coolest dining experience in Avoriaz, the Village Igloo. A unique ice grotto, bar, restaurant and mini hotel in Avoriaz, where can enjoy a traditional Savoyard meal in a spectacular setting.  Apart from having dinner in the igloo, the bar is open throughout the winter season, as is the hotel. It really is an unforgettable experience for everyone. Book and pay locally.

Acting as the taxi service in Avoriaz, there are plenty of horse-drawn sleighs around the town, and grabbing a trip from one end of Avoriaz to another is great fun for everyone of all ages! Pay locally.

There is a small ice rink in the middle of Avoriaz, lit up at night and you can hire your skates locally. This is a fantastic child-friendly activity that can be enjoyed even after the pistes close for the day. Pay locally. 

There is a two-lane bowling alley and arcade located in a subterranean complex on Place des Dromonts. It’s hard to miss the big ‘bowling’ sign out the front. Pay locally. 

Located in the centre of Avoriaz near the tourism office and ice skating rink, the small cinema has two screens and shows all of the national releases. Please note that some films will be voice dubbed in French. Pay locally.

For the thrill seekers out there, paragliding (or parapenting as the French say) is available in both Avoriaz and Morzine throughout the ski season for those who dare. 

You can take a guided ramble through the beautiful Alpine landscape with a pair of snowshoes. This relaxing activity is the perfect way to step back and enjoy a slower pace of things, explore the forests, spotting animals and breathing the fresh mountain air. There are even evening snowshoe walks to be enjoyed, so talk to your Inghams rep in resort if you fancy taking the mountains in at a different pace.
