Beginners skiing in Soldeu

The Soldeu ski area provides beginners with well groomed, gentle slopes all well connected by easy-to-use conveyor belt surface lifts, rope tows and button tows. There are 78 green and blue runs and dedicated nursery runs for you to practice and build your confidence on.

Intermediates skiing in Soldeu

An excellent selection of intermediate runs cover almost 190 kilometres of Soldeu's pistes. Test your skills and ride down to El Tarter on a red run or simply cruise your way back to resort on a blue.

Advanced skiing in Soldeu

Good off-piste potential and 10 black runs complement the cruising red runs that allow you to cover the impressive terrain easily, and really get miles under your belt. If you'd like to expand your options then we'd recommend exploring the area as a whole and heading over to Pas or Arinsal for some more runs.

Tuition information

All lessons are for 3 hours from 10am or 2pm for 3 hours a day. We try to book lessons in the mornings but on some high season dates, afternoon sessions are allocated.

Ski Kindergarten or Snow Garden is available to pre-book for children aged 3-5 years inclusive. Children aged 4-5 have lessons in a dedicated area whilst the 3 year olds will learn more about the snow with suitable games and activities. If children have skied before then they will be divided in to skiing level groups and the beginners all remain together.

Children must bring along ski boots, skis and a helmet from the ski hire shop. Ski sticks are not necessary. Please ensure they have sun screen, protective glasses, suitable clothing and the lift pass. Pre-booked 5 day Kindergarten is booked from the Monday and is based at the top of the Soldeu gondola at the ski school meeting place.

Levels of tuition

  • Beginner: never skied before
  • Level 1: advanced beginner; can control speed, snowplough and change direction on gentle slopes
  • Level 2: low intermediate; snowplough turns and start to ski parallel
  • Level 3: high intermediate; parallel turns and confident on all slopes

Season dates

  • Low season: 01 Nov 24 - 20 Dec 25, 04 Jan - 07 Feb 26, 22 Feb - 30 Apr 26
  • High season: 21 Dec 25 - 03 Jan 25, 08 Feb - 21 Feb 26

Please ensure you pre-book tuition for high season dates to avoid the ski schools being fully booked.

Group ski lessons need a minimum number of guests to take place. Very occasionally these numbers aren’t reached. If you have pre-booked lessons and this happens, the ski-school will do their best to offer private lessons to the value of the lessons you had originally booked.

Prices and supplements are correct at time of publishing. Up-to-date prices are confirmed at time of booking.

Where to stay in Soldeu

Most of our properties in Soldeu are hotels but there are apartments available too if you'd like a more homely feel for your winter trip. If you're aiming to hit the slopes as early as possible then Hotel Himalaia is the right choice as the property is ski in/ski out. On the other hand, if wellness and relaxation after an energetic day is more your style then we'd recommend Hotel Piolets Park.

Discover Soldeu

The huge ski area of the Grandvalira, which links the resorts of Soldeu and Pas de la Casa has over 200 kilometres of slopes as well as an impressive, modern lift system with state-of-the-art gondolas and fast chairs, leaving no area unexplored. After a day on the slopes, try some tapas and discover the Catalan influences in the food, drink and lively après-ski. Or head over to the neighbouring ski village of El Tarter which provides a peaceful gateway to a fantastic network of slopes.

Whether you're looking for a relaxing family day out, or wanting some adults only time by the pool, Soldeu has spa and wellness facilities to fit all. The Caldea Spa located in Andorra La Vella offers a range of massage therapies, beauty treatments and is Europe's largest mountain spa. However, if you'd prefer to stay in resort, the Sports Hotel Wellness Spa has hydrotherapy baths overlooking the slopes and is available to non-residents at an extra charge.

The capital, Andorra la Vella, will provide you with more than 400 shops offering tax-free goods. Although there is a dominance of sports shops, specialising in cycling, skiing and mountain equipment, there is also a wide range of fashion and jewellery shops, restaurants and bars and there's even a chocolate factory. If you fancy something luxurious or just a simple souvenir, the Andorra la Vella shopping scene has it all.

The excellent ski school is renowned for teaching beginners, and links to the British Association of Ski Instructors ensures most of the staff speak English. The local ski schools offer group and private tuition, inclusive for both children and adults, so there is opportunity for all.

With easy access through the lifts and gondolas, The Freeride Centre at the Grandvalira Soldeu Ski School specialises in off piste skiing lessons and is an ideal option for those of you looking to venture off slope.
