Want to get to know the real Lake Como? Then put on your walking boots and hit the trails above Menaggio, Bellagio and Lenno. Walking above and around the lake will open up an entire area of traditional farmland, mountain huts, sleepy old towns and historic churches, that you'd have never seen following the typical tourist trail. If glitz and glam are more up your street then there are also plenty of opportunities for star-spotting and scoping out famous villas; from George Clooney's old Lake Como pad to Lenno's Villa Balbianello, used in the James Bond and Star Wars franchises.

Get to know Lake Maggiore, while based in the relaxed lakeside towns of Stresa or Baveno. We recommend visiting the Borromean Islands, which are just a short boat ride away.
