Bergen feels more like a large town than a city and being positioned on the waters edge with it’s multi-coloured buildings, you'll find it truly charming. There are seven mountains surrounding the city, each with their own walking trails to discover and views to seek out– to make the walking a little less challenging you can also purchase tickets to the funicular or cable car which will make the journey up the mountain a bit easier. Bergen also has plenty of cultural and historical sites and exhibitions to explore; many of which celebrate the city's maritime past. If you’re looking to get further afield then take advantage of day trips, or, make use of the public transport system. Whether you'll looking to travel by bus or by boat there are plenty of great connections to other areas– just be sure to plan your route carefully.

Catch the train from Bergen to Voss, it takes around an hour and a half and the views from the train are wonderful. Voss is a small town but it's well known for the extreme sports festival which is held there annually. The festival is incredible to watch– with superstar athletes flocking to the area to take on daring challenges. In fact Voss has won the highest number of medals per capita in the world in world championship and Olympic games combined! If you're looking for a more relaxed pace of life, you can check out some of the local walking trails (although some can be quite challenging). Or, head to other areas, like Myrdal and catch the famous Flam railway– it’s a great day out and the scenery is fantastic.
