Browse Bergen's Cultrual Bergen is a beautiful city which tends to feel more like a large town than a busy city. It’s very pretty with houses perched on the waters edge and surrounding mountains.
As with most city breaks, you may want to hit the museums and galleries or visit some historical sites, but Bergen is also great for walking. With seven mountains surrounding the city, you’re not short on walking trails (or challenges for that matter), so why not explore on foot and admire the city from above.
The public transport is also great in Bergen if you’re looking to get a little out of the centre. The buses run well and there are also boats and ferry’s available to take you to nearby areas.
Journey to the Peaceful Shores of Balestrand
Journey by ferry to beautiful Balestrand– the journey takes around 4 hours. This small village sits on the shores of Norway’s largest fjord, the Sognefjord. It’s fantastic for those wanting to get amongst nature and experience the incredible views.
We find that the best way to immerse yourself in the landscapes is to enjoy them on foot. Around Balestrand you’ll find a number of walking trails, for those up to the challenge, hike up the mountains and look down over the fjords - it’s breath-taking.
The village itself is very peaceful with a a few sites to see and a couple of day trips on offer; however, you'll find it's hard to tear yourself away from those local incredible views.
