Our accommodations in Davos

Discover Davos

  • Visit the Alpine Botanical Garden to see around 5,000 species of plants
  • Ride the world-famous Bernina Express panoramic train to Tirano
  • Walk the Schatzalp Waterfall Trail on Davos' 'magic mountain' of Schatzalp

Davos has welcomed wanderers for centuries and it's the perfect spot for a summer holiday in the Swiss mountains. It’s known as Tavau in Romansh - the language of the people who founded the town in the Middle Ages. Several centuries later, it was reinvented as a mountain health resort that cared for the likes of Robert Louis Stevenson and became a centre for speed skating and ice hockey in the snow-laden winters. Come summer, the mountain slopes shed their snow and it’s the turn of the hikers and bikers. Walking holidays to Davos are your chance to explore some of the 700 kilometres’ worth of trails around here – as well as the local rail network which includes the incomparably scenic Bernina Express.

Davos has always been a little place with big ambitions, going from a middle-aged village to a star-studded health resort to a darling of the ski world. These days, it hosts the World Economic Forum and is home to world-class research centres for everything from allergies to avalanches. And yet it still feels like a small town. You can walk from one end of Davos to the other in less than an hour… if you manage to resist the art galleries, restaurants, spas, historic forest cemetery and lake in between, that is.

Perhaps you'd like to peruse along the promenade for a touch of retail therapy. With a range of sports shops, boutiques, international brands, hand crafts, Swiss watch and jewellery shops, you have plenty to choose from. You can even grab one of the historical posters from many shops, a popular souvenir when travelling to Davos. Then, enjoy some Swiss food & drink!

Davos Klosters is home to over 140 restaurants, meaning you can opt for a cosy inn one night, to a gourmet fine dining experience the next. Try some of the local delicacies like Salsiz and Bündnerfleisch - both are air-dried meats, popular in the Graubünden region. The Clavadeler Alp cheese factory or the Monstein brewery are both within easy reach and worthy of a visit.

Kids will be in their element here - the nearby parks are little worlds of adventure, packed with quirky themes and play equipment. Let them run wild at Spielplatz Davos Kurpark, which is insect-themed and buzzing with colour, or step into the enchanted village of Eichhörnchen, where foxes and squirrels seem to watch over your every move. Whether you’re wandering through the town or exploring the mountain, there’s no shortage of magical playgrounds to discover.

For a bit of friendly family competition, head over to Hotel Waldhuus Davos and try out their mini-golf course, which opened in summer 2023. With nine fun-filled holes to conquer, it’s the perfect spot to see who’s got the sharpest aim and the steadiest hand.

Adventure takes a twist in Flüela Valley, where frisbee meets golf on the Tschuggen course. Here, you’ll toss your frisbee toward 18 tricky baskets, aiming to hit them all with as few throws as possible. It’s a clever game that’s easy to pick up but keeps you coming back for more.

For the thrill-seekers, the Madrisa trails offer something truly unique. Picture scooters with mountain-grade wheels - part scooter, part bike - ready to take your kids (aged 13 and up) on the wild Madrisa Monster trail. Little ones aren’t left out either, with a gentler, more laid-back scooter trail just for them. Just remember to pack a helmet, safety first when the fun gets fast!

Davos has a great network of public transport and lifts that make getting around the area really easy.
