About Hotel Piccolo - Canazei

Hotel Piccolo lives up to its name with just 19 rooms, offering a warm and personal stay in Canazei. Run by the welcoming Ongari and Deflorian families, it’s set in a peaceful spot that enjoys plenty of sunshine. The centre of Canazei is around a ten-minute walk, with the main Belvedere gondola just beyond. A convenient shuttle service is available for easy access to the slopes.

After a day on the mountain, the hotel’s wellness centre is a welcome retreat. Recharge in the Finnish sauna or Turkish bath, both perfect for easing tired legs. The saltwater pool and whirlpool add to the relaxation, helping you feel ready for another day on the snow.

Discover Val di Fassa (Canazei, Campitello, Alba & Penia)

Situated in the heart of the Dolomiti Superski area you will find the vibrant area of Val di Fassa. The valley stretches 9km of which there are a number of incredible villages to choose as the location for your next Inghams holiday. Campitello, Canazei, Alba and Penia each offer their own unique allure and access to unparalleled mountain experiences.

Skiers and boarders can take to the mountains and explore the vast 1200km of piste all under one lift pass. The local ski area is predominately a haven for intermediate snow sports fans and offers 110km of piste on your doorstep. Take to the Sellaronda circuit with easy access to the sun kissed Val Gardena area to the North or head East towards Arabba, the gateway to the Marmolada glacier.

Outside of skiing you can look forward to valley walks and cross-country trails.

Things to do in Val di Fassa

All along the main street in Canazei (Via Roma) you will find a lively gaggle of shops and boutiques selling sporting goods, souvenirs, clothes and shoes, sweet treats, health foods and delicatessens with local food, as well as pharmacies and interior decorations.

If you are searching for a chemist, you will find the Farmacia Ladina on Strada Statale delle Dolomiti.

If you’re looking for a real treat (you are going on holiday, after all!) then there is the Dolaondes Aquatic Centre. Try one of the spas wonderful thermal treatments including mud therapy, balneotherapy and relaxing therapeutic massages.

There are three museums in the Val di Fassa area that are worth a visit if you are interested in culture and history. The Museo Ladin de Fascia takes an intimate look at the ingenuous culture of the Ladin people- who lived and worked in the perilous mountain regions for hundreds of years. Museum of the Great War pays a humble tribute to the tenacious battles of the Great War when the Italian partisans fought the Austro-Hungarian Empire to keep control of their territory.

There are also lots of sporting events happening throughout the season in Val di Fassa including the Sella Ronda ski marathon, and the Marcialonga cross-country skiing competition in January. If an ice hockey match is on during your stay you should definitely wander along to watch- especially is there is a local derby when it gets really exciting!

Canazei sports centre sits between Canazei and Campitello di Fassa and has basketball, a spa and wellness suite, indoor golf as well as an enormous climbing and bouldering wall. Pay for your admission locally, this makes a great alternative to a day of skiing.

Canazei has a fantastic swimming pool/ leisure centre complex- Dolaondes Water Park, which features a semi-Olympian pool, a fun water slide, a salt water outdoor pool, water vortexes and a relaxing area. There are dedicated areas exclusively for adults and children, so everyone is catered for! There is also a wellness centre in the Eghes Wellness Spa in part of the complex.

The Canzei Fun Park offers the exciting and exhilarating snow tubing for those who are looking for a little fun off the piste. Located in front of the Dòlaondes Aquatic Centre, the park has a 400m long slope where kids can enjoy endless fun in snow tubes.

If you can walk, you can snowshoe! One of the nicest things about snowshoeing is the way you can fully appreciate the beauty of the mountains at a slower pace. All across Canazei and Pozza in the Val di Fassa you can find numerous winter walking trails, hikes and guided excursions. You can hire your snowshoes locally or as part of an excursion.

There is an indoor ice skating rink, the ‘Gianmario Scola’ indoor ice stadium at Alba di Canazei that is open all year around. You can rent your skates here locally, and makes a fun and alternative activity after a day of skiing. 

The slopes above Pozza di Fassa stay open at night on Wednesdays and Fridays during the peak season thanks to a powerful lighting system over the pistes. You can buy your night lift pass locally at the bottom of the slopes.

For a real adventure, why not ascend an icy frozen waterfall? Armed with crampons and ice axes, this exciting activity isn’t just reserved for the climbing enthusiasts.
