Another area ideal for intermediates is at the the top of the Punta Jolanda lift where you will find red runs to your hearts content.
Advanced skiing and snowboarding in Gressoney

Off piste and snow parks in Gressoney
Situated at 3,275 meters, the Punta Indren is the highest lift-accessible point on Monte Rosa, serving as a gateway to some of the Alps' most iconic off-piste routes. While this lift is not included on your Inghams lift pass, you can upgrade on the day for a local fee. Whether you're dropping into the technical Canale dell’Aquila, navigating the wide open Balma, or traversing glacier terrain with a certified guide, Punta Indren offers unforgettable lines for experienced skiers and riders seeking adventure beyond the ropes.
Avalanche safety gear is essential, and guided tours are strongly recommended to safely explore the varied terrain and hidden gems this freeride paradise has to offer.

Gressoney is a fantastic spot for cross-country skiing, offering a variety of well-maintained trails set against the dramatic backdrop of the Monte Rosa range. In Gressoney-Saint-Jean, you'll find around 25km of scenic loops suitable for all levels, including the well-known Gover Lake circuit which is also lit for evening skiing on select February nights. This area has a proud Nordic heritage, having produced top-level athletes like Arianna Follis and Federico Pellegrino. A local ski school operates here too, making it an ideal place for beginners to get started.
Further up the valley in Gressoney-La-Trinité, the trails continue with gentler loops near the village as well as more challenging options at altitude, including a route at Sant’Anna accessed via cable car. Discover Gressoney
Nestled in the centre of the Monterosa ski area, one of the largest and unspoilt ski areas in Italy, you will find the beautiful resort of Gressoney. If you are looking for a traditional village with cobbled streets, full of history dating back to World War 2 and a ski area known for good challenging pistes, massive off-piste potential and 28 peaks over 4000 metres, this is where you want to be.
Dubbed by many as Europe’s best kept secret, the Monterosa ski area is simply stunning. The pistes are immaculate, probably something to do with the fact they are not overcrowded and majority of the people who do head here are at a good level of skiing. Around Gressoney you can enjoy some woodland skiing before heading further afield either towards Colle Bettaforca and over the peak towards Champoluc, the largest of the 7 towns in the area. More experienced skiers and boarders will love the slopes over towards Alagna, specifically those looking for powder can head up the Punta Indren lift which takes enthusiasts to an area dedicated to off-piste. We recommend a guide and ensuring you have the right equipment for the job. There’s also excellent cross-country skiing in both villages, with more than 20 miles of tracks for you to explore.
Gressoney is split into two areas - Staffal and La Trinité - each with its own centre and village life. You'll find a wide variety of restaurants across resort that are perfect for pitstop lunches and sophisticated evening meals. Whether you want to try some of the local cuisine or you want something a little more homely, there is something to suit all tastes.
Il Principe is a great place to try some of the local cuisine and has a fantastic wine cellar. You'll find regional specialities on the menu including fondue, Cervo and 'sugo di lepre' (pasta with a hare sauce). When in Italy, you have to try some classic Italian pizzas. The Pizzeria Principe has the reputation for making some of the best pizza in the Valley and even has a listing in the Italian Good Food Guide.
The Gressoney après scene can be seen as quiet compared to its Italian sister resorts, but there are still opportunities to have a drink after a long ski day.
The vibe here is more relaxed and is a great choice if you'd prefer socialising over a beer or two instead of dancing the whole night away. The bars across resort take it in turns to close one night a week, meaning the selection is never the same and you'll have opportunities to visit multiple venues during your stay.
Gressoney not only offers breathtaking views of the Monte Rosa Massif, fresh air and winter hiking trails, but also a number of spa facilities featuring swimming pools, saunas and hot tubs. You'll also be able to book in for a massage or beauty treatment if you'd really like to treat yourself.
The LYS Spa located in Chalet Du Lys offers a whirlpool bath, sauna, steam room, ice bath and relaxation area. You'll also be able to order hot and cold drinks during your trip. You'll find multiple fantastic facilities here to help you unwind after an energetic day on the slopes.
La Gruba Relais wellness area includes a sauna fed by a wood-burning fireplace, stone slab Turkish bath and relaxation area that aims to take you on a journey of restoration.
