Nendaz is located in the vast ski area known as the Four Valleys, which also includes the resorts of Verbier, Veysonnaz, La Tzoumaz and Thyon. This area is fantastic for intermediate and expert skiers/boarders with more than 82 lifts and 412 kilometres of piste for you to explore.

Beginners skiing and snowboarding in Nendaz

Thanks to the infrastructure available between Haute-Nendaz, Tracouet and Siviez, both children and beginners can enjoy learning to ski in a safe and fun setting. Start your day by heading up the Tracouet gondola, and either warm up your legs on the nearby beginner slopes with drag lifts, or head towards Siviez on the long cruisy blues and gentle, wide red runs. Once in Siviez you can head up to Tortin for a gentle blue run, or take the Combatseline chairlift up for more challenging slopes. At the end of the day you can either take the gondola back down to Nendaz, or take your time carving down the long blue run through the forest and chalets of Nendaz.

Ski schools in Nendaz

Whether you're learning to ski, or want to explore some unmarked back country, Nendaz offers a range of ski schools and tours suited to all abilities. You can choose to either have group tuition, or book a private lesson for some more one on one tuition with an English speaking instructor.

Intermediates skiing and snowboarding in Nendaz

Nendaz offers good skiing for intermediates with the longest descent being 15 kilometres long. With around 20 red pistes and a handful of black pistes, there is definitely enough variety to keep you entertained for the whole week. The lift pass also gives you access to the larger Four Valleys, where you'll find even more reds and blacks for you to perfect your technique and challenge yourself.  The pistes towards Veysonnaz and Thyon are ideal choices for intermediates, with long red runs down from Combatseline and Col des Gentianes.

Advanced skiing and snowboarding in Nendaz

Advanced skiers and boarders are in for a treat when visiting Nendaz. Not only will you have a large range of black runs to soar through, including the Plan du Fou - Prarion ski slope, but Nendaz is also home to one of the most exciting ski slopes in the Four Valleys. Take the gondola and head up to the summit of Mont-Fort - 3,330 metres above sea level - the highest point of the whole ski area and dare to make your way down the challenging unpisted black run back to Tortin. The thrill this slope offers is unmatched, and also provides some of the best views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and the Combins massif. This slope is considered to be very difficult and is ungroomed due to its steepness, so makes it a challenging opportunity for those of you with years of experience under your belt.

Off piste and snow parks in Nendaz

The Four Valleys offers some of the best off-piste in the world, and you'll have this right on your doorstep during your stay. If you're an expert in the snow sports field and want something exciting and new, the biggest attraction here will be the seven marked freeride areas, including Eteygeon, Plan-du-Fou, Mont-Fort, Chassoure and Mont-Gele.

There are no snow parks located directly in Nendaz, the closest one being in Thyon. This snow park is located alongside the Theytaz 2 lift and is called Centralpark. No matter your skill level, you'll find something of interest here, with rails, boxes and kickers available to use. You can also head over to Verbier where you'll find a freestyle park in La Chaux - this park is pretty big and has 4 different lines with jibs, volcanoes and table tops.

Cross country skiing in Nendaz

Cross country skiing is not as big in Nendaz as it is in some other resorts, but that said, there are still 2 areas that offer some peaceful and gentle tracks. The first is located in Prachavio and is accessible to all, allowing beginners to give this version of skiing a try on an easy track that follows the forest.

The second track is Pra da Dzeu. Pra da Dzeu is a dialect name that means 'meadow in the forest' and the track certainly lives up to its name. This idyllic places provides a calm and peaceful track in a protected natural setting and allows you to first walk around the gouille d'Ouché before heading to Pra da Dzeu.

There is a free shuttle bus (number 5) that takes you from Nendaz to Pracondu, where both trails start from.

Discover Nendaz

Located in the heart of the Valais region of the Four Valleys, Nendaz is a large and modern resort offering some of Europe's best slopes for all abilities. Located next to it's loud and lively sister resort of Verbier, Nendaz is known for its contrasting laidback atmosphere and is the perfect choice for family and friends looking for a more chillaxed ski experience. The resort lies on a sunny terrace near Sion, and you'll find the views here are incredible, with lots of opportunities for some fantastic photos overlooking the Rhône Valley. And when you're not hitting the slopes, we're sure you'll also enjoy the range of off slope activities including dog sledding, ice skating, tobogganing and a huge 130 kilometres of winter trails to explore.

During your stay in Nendaz, there will options to dine both on and off the mountain.

For some good mountain dining, we'd recommend Combatseline, located at 2,200 metres at the top of the Combatseline chairlift. This restaurant has a large terrace perfect for those blue bird days and also offers a family-friendly menu. Cabane de Balavaux is also a must - located in the middle of the slopes in the Tracouet area, this pit stop is surrounded by some of the oldest larch trees in the whole of Europe. Or, if you are feeling wild, have lunch around a giant tipi at Le Tipi in the middle of the slope of the Plan du Fou at Siviez.

As for resort dining, Nendaz has a fantastic selection of restaurants and cafes for you to choose from. Restaurant Mont-Rouge provides a comfortable and rustic atmosphere specialising in local Swiss cuisine - this restaurant also has a great assortment of Valaisan wines.

Nendaz is filled with a variety of bars and restaurants, all of which are slightly cheaper than the ones found in Verbier. You'll have the choice of dining in the selection of restaurants in the resort centre, or stop off in one of the many mountain restaurants located on the pistes and have lunch with a view.

Although Nendaz is quieter than the other resorts in the Four Valleys, the resort centre still provides a good selection of bars and a couple of nightclubs too. You'll also have the opportunity for an afternoon après drink at Le Grenier, a bar located at the bottom of the piste offering a fine vin chaud just when you need it most.

Although Nendaz is not a party resort, there are still some great opportunities for some après ski.  Located at the base of the slopes, Bar Edelweiss is a popular spot for a drink and is usually quite lively when the lifts start to close. There is also Cheersbar located at the bottom of the Tracouet Ski slopes if you would like to switch it up throughout the week.

If you plan on partying late into the evening, The Gallery located in the gondola base station is your best choice for a high energy night filled with lighting and a live DJ (on peak season dates). Cactus is also a good choice if you'd like more of a live music and dancing vibe.

For more of a wine and dine experience, head over to La Cave a Lait, which operates as both a café and a wine bar - you can also treat yourself to some Swiss cheese and other local products here too.

Many hotels in Nendaz offer spa facilities included with your stay. The Nendaz 4 Valleys Hotels has great spa facilities included for guests, and non-residents can use the spa for a local fee. Built across two floors, Spa des Bisses invites for relaxation and features a 2,200 squared metres area with a pure zen atmosphere. The space is dedicated to water, offering a range of facilities to recharge your batteries including a bio-sauna, dew steam bath, outdoor heated swimming pool and jacuzzi. There are also opportunities to have a beauty treatment or massage in one of the two private spa areas.

In the resort centre, you'll find all the essentials for a shopping trip. There is a coop supermarket located in the centre, providing a full range of groceries. There is also a Migros supermarket a little further out of resort. You'll also find a range of bakeries, butchers, pharmacies and a post office in resort.

Things to do in Nendaz

Over 3 kilometres long, this sledge run is separated from the main ski area and offers a different kind of slope fun for all ages - and the best part is you can take the chair lift up and come down as many times as you like.

Don't feel like skiing down one of the most notorious slopes in the 4 Vallées? No worries, you can fly down it instead! Take off from the top of the Mont-Fort towards Col des Gentianes, descending more than 1,400 metres, over snow covered mountains and the Tortin glacier.

If you'd rather explore the mountains on foot than on skis, there are plenty of winter trails to choose from. Pop on a pair of snowshoes and wander through peaceful forests, surrounded by stunning alpine scenery. Trails range from 30 minutes to three and a half hours, so whether you're after a gentle stroll or a more active outing, there's something to suit every pace.

Lace up your skates and take to the ice at the resort’s central rink in Plaine des Ecluses, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. Glide around the rink at your own pace, try your hand at figure skating, or enjoy a friendly game of ice hockey.

During the season, the rink transforms into a lively dance floor, combining music and ice-skating under the glow of strobe lights. These vibrant evenings offer fun for all ages, whether you're a seasoned skater or just looking to enjoy something a little different.

Take to the skies and experience the ski area at a higher altitude than the peaks. You'll soar over the Rhone Valley and have exceptional panoramic views of the snow covered mountain peaks.

Located in Tracouet, snowtubing is a great activity for children and parents alike. Grab a snowtube, take the dedicated drag-lift to the top, and enjoy the thrill of speeding down the slope. The best part is that snowtubing is included with your ski pass. For those who prefer to watch or relax, a few sun loungers are available nearby.
