Discover Engelberg

When it comes to the main skiing area of Engelberg, you'll find that the majority of the pistes are spread out due to the glaciers and the rugged landscape of resort. Engelberg's ski area offers 82 kilometres of skiable terrain and is divided into two main sectors: Titlis-Stand and Jochpass. Here, the elevated north-facing slopes hold onto their snow really well, ensuring a lengthy ski season. Plus, the piste grooming is top-notch, providing excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions. You'll find that the area caters well for intermediates to advanced as many of the runs are challenging steep reds.

The Jochpass region tends to be less crowded compared to Titlis, offering pleasant blue and red runs for you to enjoy, some of which are wonderfully long, taking you all the way down to the valley station. However, if you are a beginner, you're in luck - there's a dedicated beginner's area at Gerschnialp, along with smaller areas at Trübsee and Untertrübsee, where you can start off by building your confidence. Boarders are also in for a treat as Engerlberg offers some fantastic freeriding opportunity and many guides available to accompany you and show you the best spots.

More about Engelberg

Things to do in Engelberg

Located in the heart of the village, there is an artificial ice skating rink - the Patinoire de Val d'Isere - and is great fun for all the family. It is open all winter 7 days a week, weather dependant of course, and there is a small refreshment chalet located on site for snacks and hot drinks to warm you up.

Val d'Isere has one driving school offering training courses supervised by professionals for ice driving. They have one car and one motorcycle track as well as a ice karting track and driving simulator that replicates the real sensations felt when driving on a real race car track. Ice driving improves you reflexes, helps you respond to risks and sets out to improve your driving in general. If you don't want to drive, you can also experience drifting on the ice at speed as a passenger with a professional race driver who all have national certificates of motor sports.

Val d'Isere is a great place to learn to fly thanks to it's many clubs and organisations in the resort whose sole purpose is to get you up in the air. Flights can be taken with a qualified instructor and it's good to know that no level of fitness is required for this activity, all you need to do is sit back and enjoy the spectacular birds-eye views.

Snowmobiles are great fun and a fab way to explore the side of the mountains the ski slopes don't touch. It's up to you to decide whether you want to be a passenger or a driver but either way you'll have opportunities to experience untouched landscapes surrounding Mont Blanc, Bellevarde summit and the Sache - and some great opportunities for photos!

Jump on a snowmobile and experience Soldeu to the fullest. Make the most of the guided tours that are available or create your own adventure and follow marked trails alone. If you're hoping for a little more excitement, night tours are also available in resort through request. Snowmobile drivers are required to be 18 years and over but children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

There is a wide variety of winter excursions offered around Soldeu with the Canillo Olympic Palace offering a range of ice activities like ice hockey, ice karting and artistic ice skating. The venue has stands for 1,700 spectators and has an Olympic size ice rink. You can even learn how to build an igloo which is great fun for the children.

Add a touch of adrenaline to your holiday and experience a birds eye view of Soldeu through paragliding. No previous experience is needed and there are multiple types of flight on offer with an amazing selection of guides. If you'd like to capture that unforgettable moment, some flights are documented with photo and video imagery available for purchase at the end of your ride.

The Grandvalira zipline, 40 meters high and 550 meters long, gives you some of the best possible views of the mountains and Llac del Forn lake. You can either sit down and cruise or if you're feeling daring enough ride horizontally and prepare to fly.

Treat yourself to an afternoon relaxing in the wonderful wellness area in Le Lac. With your lift pass it only costs about €12 for 90mins chilling and relaxing those achy ski legs away. There is also a fantastic recreational pool area here, and if relaxing isn’t your thing then the incredible fitness facilities will help you train for your next ski expedition.

Don’t forget your speedos!

Tignespace will keep you occupied with its state-of-the-art infrastructures in an exceptional setting. Its massive climbing walls and indoor football pitches make it perfect for white-out days when the snow is just too heavy to ski. It also includes a conference centre.

Tignes is one of the only resorts in France that provide free diving beneath the ice! An incredible opportunity for an underwater experience with a qualified instructor.

If you're looking for a thrill ride, slide down a 30 km ski jump on your skis/snowboard wearing a bungee harness and land safely via zip wire!

Swap your skis for a toboggan on the Pala'Fou Toboggan run! Alternatively, to add a bit of extra fun to sledging, try snow tubing! Slide down the slope on a giant rubber ring (3 years and above).

The Plateau du Marais is a new viewing platform at 2425 metres offering panoramic views of the surrounding summits. Head up the Aiguille Rouge 6 seater chair lift to access the viewing platform.

If you'd prefer to explore the winter landscape by foot we'd recommend trying snow shoeing. Using poles and your own strength you wade through the snow, making it fantastic exercise as well as a lot of fun. A highlight about snow shoeing is that it takes place away from the busy slopes, allowing you to explore the quieter, untouched parts of Andorra.

Also known as 'Mushing', hit the dog-sled circuits and take a guided tour over at El Tarter or Grau Roig. Choose to take charge and control the sled, assisting the dogs on their run, or sit back and relax in the passenger seat making sure to enjoy the snowy scenery.

Be the first one up the mountain and enjoy a breakfast with a view, you can enjoy the exclusivity of being one of the first ones on the mountain. Please ask your representative for further details on how to book.

If you fancy a break from skiing, take the focus off the mountains and spend some quality fun time with the family. Downstairs in the Princesa Parc Hotel you'll find a 10-pin bowling alley, along with a bar and games room that is open to the general public.

Hop on a snowmobile and cruise round remote, marked trails through the trees, seeing a side of Pas the skiers don't get to see. Snowmobiling is a great activity for those of you looking for an adrenaline rush and to make it even better, there are night excursions available too for the ultimate adventure. Don't forget to bring your valid driving license if you're hoping to drive the snowmobile!

Mushing is an extremely popular excursion across all winter destinations and is a fantastic way to see resorts away from the piste. Take in the scenery of Pas de la Casa and the Grandvalira ski area, go on an unforgettable journey through the snowy forest paths and sit back and enjoy the ride on a sled pulled by huskies.
